Nutella, Messy Messes, and Eclairs (YUM!)

How’s it going folks? Having a lovely winter? (We’re having a white one)! :^)

This is the lovely view from my balcony.

Now two days ago I was wondering about what to for today’s post, so I was flipping through one of my Girl Scout journey books (for inspiration), then I found a recipe that I REALLY wanted to try. Guess what it is. If you’ve guest eclairs, (or cheated by looking at the tittle) then your correct!

Need:

  1. 4 eggs at room temperature.
  2. 1/2 a cup of butter (It should say on the wrapper) plus a little extra to grease your cookie sheet.
  3. 1/2 a teaspoon of salt.
  4. 1 cup of all-purpose white flour.
  5. 1 cup of water.

1. Dollop some butter onto a paper towel and start greasing your cookie sheet.

Use butter. No elbow grease required.

2. Next, preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.

3. Pour your salt, butter, and water into a medium sized pot, stir often, and wait for it to boil. HEADS UP: When it gets boiling the next steps are going to be CRAZY.

4. This is going to sound weird, but pour your flour into the boiling pot and it’s going to steam a lot while you mix it.

Don

Don’t freak out and keep stirring.

Tada!

Tada!

5. At this point I turned off the heat and removed the pot from the still hot stove and added the eggs. Be sure to add them in one at a time.

This photo was taken at the 2nd-3rd added egg.

6. When I was done, the dough was all clumpy when it should still be one big lump of dough. So I put it back onto the hot part of the stove, (Do not turn it on, it should still be hot) and mixed it up for a few seconds, then removed it from the heat.

7. Now your supposed to dollop the dough into small log shapes (Give them S P A C E. They’ll expand like crazy), and I thought you were supposed to do it with your hands. But obviously, I was wrong.

GLEAGH!

GLEAGH!

So after I washed my hands, (That dough is STICKY) I used my spoon to dollop the dough into logs tried to even them out.

Ahhh. Much better.

Ahhh. Much better.

8. Now put your eclairs into the oven and cook them for 15 minutes.

Creepy owl timer stair of DOOM!

Creepy owl timer stare of DOOM!

Now would be a good time to do those dishes.

Messy!

Messy!

9. After your eclairs cook for 15 minutes, turn the heat down to 350 degrees F, and let them cook for 30 more minutes.

10. Take them out of the oven and let them cool completely before you add the filling.

Tada!

Tada!

It was at this point when I found out that we didn’t have any heavy cream (NOOO!) so my mom went to the store that evening but it was bedtime when she came back. And in the morning, I woke up with a really bad fever (it’s almost gone now) but I knew I had to finish making the eclairs.

Need:

  1. A cup of really cold heavy cream.
  2. 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla.
  3. 1 teaspoon (or more) of sugar.

Oh, and you’ll also need one of these.

1. Pour all of your ingredients into a large bowl and start mixing it until it looks like this.

Now it is time to do the final touches to your eclairs (YAY!)!

1. Take a knife and carefully slice open the top.

2. Now take a spoon and fill up your eclairs.

3. Place the top back onto the treat. Take another spoon and spread some Nutella on the top of your eclair.

Mmmm. Nutella.

Mmmm. Nutella.

Now dig in!

Yum!

Yum!

This recipe gives you 6 eclairs (depending on how big you make them). They would be great for parties and they’re supper delicious. Like this post and subscribe to this blog.
